ARCATA – The San Francisco State volleyball team swept the Lumberjacks 3-0 at Lumberjack Arena to earn the season sweep of Humboldt. The Gators won with set scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-18.
- Gators improve to 12-8 and 8-5 in the CCAA. Lumberjacks fall to 2-14 and 1-12 in conference action.
- SF State posted a .250 hitting percentage and had three players in double-digits for kills: Alhana Velasquez with 13, Tamiya Wilson with 12 and Josie Collier with 10.
- The Gators only allowed one service aces while landing seven of their own. Velasquez had a team high of three.
- Kimberly DeBoer finished with a match high 36 assists.
- The Gators held the Lumberjacks to 29 kills with no player tallying over six.
After starting the first set pretty close, the Gators swung advantage strongly in their favor with a 10-1 run to take a 20-9 lead. The run was capped with Velasquez's second ace of the set.
The Gators opened up set two with a 5-0 lead and never looked back. Humboldt came within two-points of the Gators' lead twice during the set but the Gators pulled away both times.
SF State found itself in a hole early on in set three. Down as much as five, the Gators rallied to claim the lead. A 4-0 run down 10-8 gave the Gators' their first lead of the set.
The Lumberjacks would tie things up again but the Gators slowly pulled away. Three kills from
Chloe Henning during a 6-0 run to put the Gators up 23-14 helped give the team the advantage to take the third set.
