POMONA – The San Francisco State volleyball team could not upset #23 Cal Poly Pomona at Kellogg Arena and fell 3-0. The Gators had set scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17.
- Gators fall to 14-10 and 10-7 in the CCAA. Broncos improve to 19-5 and 13-4 in the CCAA.
- Pomona dominated the front of the net and recorded 14 blocks compared to the Gator's four.
- Alhana Velasquez lead all players with 14 kills. Tamiya Wilson was right behind her with 10.
- The Gators' .100 attack percentage was the lowest of the season.
Down 14-9, the Gators called a time out and went on a 3-0 run coming out of the huddle. Pomona called a time out of their own to stop the Gators' momentum. The Broncos went on a 6-0 run and only allowed two more kills by the Gators the rest of the way.
After trailing by as many as four points throughout the second set, the Gators tied the set off a kill from Velasquez. Another kill from Velasquez ended set point for the Broncos and tied the set at 24 apiece. A service error gave the Broncos the serve back at set point and they ended the set with a block.
Pomona led by as much as eight during the third set. The Gators had eight attack errors and a pair of service errors to contribute to Pomona's point total in the final set.
San Francisco State will close out the regular season Saturday, November 5 at 7 p.m. and Cal State San Bernardino. A win against the Yotes will punch their ticket to the CCAA Championships.
