PUEBLO, Colorado — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its first road contest to CSU Pueblo 8-4 at Rawlings Field. A five-run inning from the ThunderWolves in the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the loss.
- SF State sits at 3-2 while CSU Pueblo improves to 4-5.
- The Gators had 12 players left on base compared to the ThunderWolves' six.
- Justin Clark went 2-for-3 with a walk and hit by pitch.
- Matthew Farren hit his first career home run and lead the team with two RBIs.
- Gators had nine hits while the ThunderWolves had 11.
- Noah Hennings went 3-for-5 for CSU Pueblo.
Farren got the Gators on the board first with a two-run homer to left field in the third inning. The following inning,
Luke O'Brien added an insurance run with a sac fly to bring in
AJ Schrader. CSU Pueblo did its damage in the sixth inning and scored five runs from four hits. Two of those hits went for extra bases. Schrader hit an RBI double to get the Gators back within one in run. The Thunderwolves tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 8-4 lead headed into the final inning. Gators got two free bases to start the inning but the CSU Pueblo struck out the following three batters to end the game.
- Jordyn Eglite started on the mound and went six innings in his first loss of the season. He threw three strikeouts and gave up seven hits and five runs.
- Mario Vargas came in relief for Eglite and threw 1.2 innings, give up three runs.
- Tim McIntyre got the win for the ThunderWolves.
"Tough loss. Pueblo made the pitches and got the two-out rbi hits. That was the difference," said Head Coach Tony Schifano.
