By the Numbers

  • With the two games, SF State slides to 15-21 overall.
  • Lehua DeLeon had the Gators' only stolen base of the day, bringing the team's season total to 97 for the season.
  • Brylynn Vallejos, who was named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA DII Player & Pitcher of the Year Top 50 earlier this week, homered in each game, bringing her season total to a team-leading six and 13 for her career. Vallejos moves into No. 8 on the program's all-time leader list past Kristin Bartholomay's dozen (2004-07) and one home run behind Kelsey Wood (2008-11).
  • The Gators turned their 24th double play of the season, which leads NCAA Division II.
  • Kira Nilson had a 3-for-3 game versus Holy Names.
  • SF State has lost seven 10, including seven of its last eight games.
GAME ONE vs. HNU

How They Scored
  • A four-run first inning gave the Hawks all they needed. Five of HNU's nine hits came in the first inning and an error led to two of the Hawks' four runs coming unearned.
  • The Gators stranded a pair in the first and third innings, then HNU added on in the fourth with Kimberlee Walston's RBI single back up the middle.
  • Vallejos launched a two-out homer in the seventh to get the Gators on the board.

  • Kaitlyn Maddux (6-13) was charged with all five runs, three earned, in three and two thirds innings of work. She struck out three.
  • Madeline Eshbach pitched well out of the bullpen. She allowed a pair of hits in three and a third innings of scoreless relief.
  • Haighley Kissee (2-6) picked up the complete-game win for the Hawks. She walked two and struck out one.
GAME TWO vs. SFU

How They Scored
  • Simon Fraser struck first with a sacrifice fly but the Gators answered with a pair in the bottom of the first. Vallejos doubled and scored on Lehua DeLeon's single down the left field line. DeLeon stole third and scores on a Sydney Jenkins fielder's choice. Jenkins reached safely and advanced to third on an error but was stranded with one out.
  • In the third, Vallejos sent the second pitch she saw over the left field fence to make it a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Gators got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth but surrendered three-run innings in both the fifth and sixth.
  • Hanna Finkelstein's two-run double in the fifth tied it and a Hannah Boulanger single followed to give SFU the lead. Eshbach came out of the bullpen again and got Georgia Ogg to groundout to leave the bases loaded.
  • A fielding error extended the inning in the sixth. Ogg singled home a run and Boulanger drove in a pair before SF State got out of the inning with a double play.
  • In the seventh, Jenkins took the first pitch she saw for a two-run blast to left field but that's all the Gators would get back.
