How It Happened

The Gators offense came out hot in set one, hitting at a 0.382 hitting percentage with 16 kills. Stanislaus cut the Gators' lead at 19-17, but a Stanislaus attack error and an ace from Kimberley DeBoer that landed right in the back corner but the Gators up by four to force a time-out by the Warriors. Stanislaus only recorded one more point after the timeout.

SF State came back from a deficit several times through the second set but a 7-1 run from Stanislaus gave them a 22-16 lead that the Gators would not be able to come back from.

Down by six in set three, the Gators came back within two thanks in part to a pair of kills from Rendahl. At 22-20, the Gators had a chance to reclaim the lead, but a kill from the Warriors game them the serve. Stanislaus State took advantage of a bad set from the Gators and closed out the set with a block.

The Gator attack fell flat in set four as they were only able to land six kills. A bad set gave the Gators the lead back at 15-14. The Warriors used an 8-1 run to swing the fourth set in their favor and take the match win.
