After starting the first set 5-1, the Wildcats slowly chipped away at the Gators lead to tie it up for the first time during set one at 11-11. Every time the Gators tried to pull away, the Wildcats came back to equalize. With the set tied 24-24, Wilson landed a kill to give the serve back to the Gators and a chance to end the set. Collier landed a kill on the ensuing serve to end it.
Down the majority of set two, the Gators offense started clicking to cut a six-point lead down to one. At 24-22, Chico had a chance to win the set, but back-to-back attack errors from Chico tied the set up and SF State connected on a pair of kills to end the set.
The Gators took the offensive momentum into the third set and hit at .414 percent for the set. A 6-2 start for the Gators forced Chico to burn a timeout. The two teams would trade kills one more time before the Gators put the pedal down on the attack to close things out.
