How It Happened

It was all SF State in set one as the Gators finished the set with a perfect sideout percentage. A balanced attack combined with errors from the Lumberjacks led to an easy set one victory.

Down by two early in the second set, the Gators connected on four kills during a 6-0 run to take a 9-5 lead and force a timeout by the Lumberjacks. Humboldt came back within two, but the Gators continued to widen the lead and put the set out of reach for the Lumberjacks.

Four different Gators landed kills to race out to a 8-2 lead in the third set. Humboldt came with two of the Gator's lead. With the lead down to two, the Gators elected to call a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, SF State expanded its lead thanks to a couple of service aces and bad sets from Humboldt. The Gators finished the set with five service aces.
