SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team fell on the road to #13 Cal State San Bernardino (20-25, 25-23, 16-25, 20-25). While the Gators continued to attack the ball well, errors proved to be costly in tight sets.
- The Gators fall to 10-7 on the season and 6-3 in the CCAA. The Yotes improve to 14-3 and 7-2 on the season
- While the Gators recorded more kills than the Yotes (60 to 53), they also recorded far more errors, finishing with 23 attack errors and 12 service errors. In comparison, the Yotes had 12 attack errors and three service errors.
- Three Gators finished in double figures for kills: Tamiya Wilson (17), Izzy Issak (16) and Trinity Yates (13)
- Kimberly DeBoer had 50 assists on the day, her fourth match with 50+ assists on the season. With 2281 career assists, DeBoer moves into fifth all-time.
- The Yotes outblocked the Gators 13-2.
In a tight early set one, the Gators stayed within a pair of points early on. Back-to-back points from the Yotes gave the home team a 19-16 lead, forcing a Gator timeout. The Yotes picked up two points after the timeout. Service errors from the Gators proved costly and stopped a late comeback.
The Gators came out singing in set two and took a 9-3 lead before the Yotes called a timeout. San Bernardino stayed in the set and came within one at 24-23. Wilson, who hit the ball out to give the Yotes their 23rd point, flipped the script and landed a kill to reach set point.
A pair of Gator attack errors help the Yotes go on a 4-0 run to take a 16-14 lead. The Gators called a timeout, but the Yotes went on a 9-2 run out of the timeout, recording four aces in the run.
SF State played the Yotes close in set four. Back-to-back blocks from the Yotes led to a 23-20 lead and a Gator timeout. The next two points went to the Yotes to give them match point.
