Up 14-11, the match was tied up when LA recorded three straight points. A kill from Izzy Issak gave the Gators the lead back, but the ensuing serve was out and started a 4-0 run for LA. Down 18-17, the Gators looked to complete the comeback but a service error put the ball back in LA's hands and the Golden Eagles hit four straight aces to swing momentum their way. The Golden Eagles finished the set with eight aces
After allowing the first point, the Gators rattled five kills and a block to lead 6-1. The Golden Eagles came within three, but Yates landed back-to-back kills and Brianna DeBoer served an ace to go up 12-6 before LA call a time-out. Errors piled up on the Golden Eagles to keep the Gators' lead intact through the rest of the set.
Down 9-8, a service error gave the Gators the serve back and SF State went on a 7-1 run to go up 15-10 prior to LA calling a timeout. Yates came to life in set three, recording seven kills including the one for set point.
The Golden Eagles used a 6-0 scoring run to take a late 19-17 lead in set four. The Gators returned the favor with a 6-0 scoring drive of their own, landing three kills in the process. Yates whiffed on an attack to end the drive but made up for it on the next rally with a kill to get the Gators to match point. The Golden Eagles would land the next kill but a service error ended their comeback and the match.
