HAYWARD, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team's win streak snapped at five after a loss on the road to Cal State East Bay (14-25, 15-25, 15-25).
- The Gators fall to 15-9 and 11-5 in the conference, dropping them to a three-way tie for third with Cal Poly Pomona and Sonoma State. The Pioneers improve to 12-11 and 8-8 in conference.
- SF State recorded a season-low hitting percentage at .050. East Bay hit .306 percent.
- Tamiya Wilson and Rebecca Rendahl each had six kills.
- The Gators landed four aces compared to the Pioneers eight but only recorded three service errors.
The Pioneers went on a 5-0 run to go up 7-2 before a kill from Wilson stopped the run. The Gators came within three but were never able to find their footing as the Pioneers ran away with the set. The Gators offense finished the set with a -.047 hitting percentage and nine attack errors.
East Bay opened set two 5-0 and the Gators were forced to burn an early timeout down 7-1. The Gators closed the gap a little to trail 10-6 but were unable to find their footing in set two either.
Tied at 12-12 in set three, East Bay went on a 4-0 run before the Gators called a timeout. The Gators could not figure it out offensive and only landed three more kills in the set.
The Gators have a crucial final week before the CCAA tournament with two more home matches. Their first match of the week against Sonoma State on November 9 will feature a pair of teams that were listed in the first West Regional Rankings.
