How it Happened

The Gators offense clicked early and recorded a .361 hitting percentage in set one. The potent offense only slowed down due to self-inflicted wounds as the Gators recorded six service errors in the set. The Seawolves came within two at 22-20 but kills from Wilson and Issak clinched the set.

After leading by as much as six points, the Gators slowly saw the Seawolves chip away in set two. Sonoma used a 5-0 scoring run to take its biggest lead of the match at 22-20. A ball handling error gave the Gators the serve back down 24-23 but Sonoma landed a kill on the ensuing rally to clinch the set.

A service error gave the Gators the lead at 4-3 and led to a 7-0 run with several errors from the Seawovles. The Seawovles came within four down 22-18 but back-to-back kills from Wilson and a block from Kimberly DeBoer and Rebecca Rendahl delivered the set three win.

In a close set four, the Gators finally started to pull away with a 5-1 run to go up 20-15. Kimberly DeBoer had a hand in four of the five points, recording a kill, ace, block and assist. With the lead 20-18, the Gators closed the match out with a pair of aces from Issak and three kills from Wilson.
