CARSON, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team picked up a hard fought four-set victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills (22-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-19). The Gators found themselves playing from behinds at several points in the match but were able to come back and take the final three sets.
- The Gators improve to 8-5 on the season and 3-1 in the CCAA. The Toros fall to 8-4 and 3-2 in the CCAA. SF State has won four straight against Cal State. Dominguez Hills
- The 71 digs in the match matches a season high. Tamiya Wilson had a team high 17 while Kimberly DeBoer, Brianna DeBoer and Izzy Issak all had 14.
- Three Gators finished with double-digit kills. Issak had a game high 16, followed by Wilson with 12 and Trinity Yates with 11.
- Kimberly DeBoer had 51 assists, two shy of her season high. Her 51 assists ties the most in a four-set match this season.
- The Gators had seven service aces but 14 service errors.
The Gators had a large lead early on, leading 10-3 after the first SF called time-out. But the Toros slowly came back and tied things at 14-14 off a block. The Gators stayed within reach thanks to three service errors from the Toros but the Toros gained momentum late to take the first set.
SF State called timeout down 10-5 in set two. A Toros service error gave the Gators the serve back and Kimberly DeBoer had a pair of aces in a 4-0 run to tie the set up. Tied at 19-19, the Gators shut the Toros out, getting kills from Wilson, Yates and Issak during the run.
Like the previous set, the Gators had to comeback from an early deficit. Back-to-back kills from Wilson led to the first tie, then lead of the set at 19-18. The Toros tied the set 24-24 but a kill from Wilson and a ball handling error from the Golden Eagles shut the door in set three.
In another tight set, the Gators pulled away late when Wilson served a pair of aces in a 5-0 run to go up 22-16. A service error ended the Gators' run but SF State was able to maintain a five-point lead the rest of the way.
