How it Happened

The Gators struggled offensively, earning five of their 14 points from service errors. LA defended the net well and finished set one with six blocks.

After starting set two with a slight lead, the Gators started to fall behind due to miscues and errors. They recorded six service errors after only recording one in the first set. The Gators cut the Golden Eagles lead to three at 20-17 but a service error ended a 4-0 run and the Golden Eagles took the second set.

The Gators had their most competitive set in the third set. Izzy Issak had back-to-back aces to get the Gators within one of the lead at 20-19. Facing match point down 24-22, a couple of errors from the Golden Eagles tied things up. The two teams exchanged points before the Golden Eagles closed out the match with a kill and a block.
