SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The No. 22 San Francisco State volleyball team saw its win streak snapped at eight on Saturday night with a sweep at RV Cal State San Bernardino. The Gators, who bested the Coyotes in five sets on Thursday night, fell 25-20, 25-21, 25-22.
- The Gators slip to 14-4 and 8-2 in the CCAA. The Gators remain in second place behind No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona, who is undefeated through ten conference matches.
- Izzy Isaak tallied a team-high 12 kills marking the fourth time this season she had 20+ kills.
- As a team, the Gators had an attack percentage of .307. Wilson held a percentage of .448.
- The Gators landed seven aces and limited the Yotes to four. Asia Arbaugh added two and leads the CCAA with 35.
- M'Kera Drake led the Coyotes with a dozen kills, followed by 11 from Kacie Pedersen.
Tied at 14-14 in set one, the Coyotes rattled off four straight points, though the Gators responded with a 5-1 run of their own to tie the opening set at 19-19. However, CSUSB scored the next five points, all on kills from Savannah Hoffman, Drake, and Pederson. Aidan Goodrich delayed set point with a kill but a Gators service error resulted in the set one win for the Coyotes.
Momentum continued in favor of CSUSB, who opened set two on a 10-1 run. A Robinson attack error gave the ball back to the Gators and DeBoer had a pair of aces, and a Wilson kill pulled the Gators to within five, 10-5. Up seven, the Coyotes used a four-point run to make it 21-10. Issak had back-to-back kills, then an attack error to make it 22-12. On the next play, Brianna DeBoer connected with Kimberly DeBoer for the kill and that sparked a 7-0 Gators run that trimmed the lead to three, 22-19. However, another Gators attack error and a pair of Robinson kills had the Gators trailing 2-0 in the match.
A pair of Wilson kills and an Asia Arbaugh service ace gave the Gators an early 3-0 advantage in set three but a pair of attack errors and a Pedersen ace evened the set. A pair of Goodrich kills, a bet set by CSUSB, and a Wilson kill gave the Gators the lead back, 7-3, and the lead held until 10-8. The Coyotes tied the set at 10-10, though the Gators led as late as 19-17. The Coyotes finished on an 8-3 run to complete the sweep.
