SAN FRANCISCO — Behind a whopping 22 kills from
Tamiya Wilson, the #23 San Francisco State volleyball team took care of business at home in a sweep over Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Gators won with scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-11.
- The Gators improve to 15-4 and 9-2 in the CCAA. The Toros drop to 6-13 and 3-8 in the CCAA.
- Wilson's 22 kills were the most posted in a three set match in the conference this season.
- SF State finished with a hitting percentage of .419, good for eighth best in a single match
- The Gators more than doubled the Toros in kills (55 to 25) and assists (54 to 23). Kimberly DeBoer had 42 assists to average 14 a set.
- Brianna DeBoer had 14 digs while Asia Arbaugh had one less with 13.
- Kayly Pau had 9.5 points to lead the Toros.
Tied at six all in set one, Anastacia Garza landed back to back kills to close out a 4-0 run to give the Gators a cushion the rest of the set. The Toros would only cut the lead to two once down 13-11 but Wilson landed back-to-back kills to give the Gators the cushion again.
The Gators offense clicked well in set two as 21 of their 25 points came from kills. At set point 24-15, errors allowed the Toros to stay in the set but Wilson landed her tenth kill of the set to give the Gators the set win.
After being tied at 7-7 in set three, the Gators dominated the rest of way and only allow four more points from the Toros. SF State held Dominguez Hills to a -.037 hitting percentage.
