SAN FRANCISCO — The #20 San Francisco State volleyball team picked up their second sweep of the week, defeating Stanislaus State with scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 26-24. With the win today, the Gators have secured their spot in the CCAA tournament. The Gators have made it five times the last six seasons played.
- The Gators improve to 18-4 and 12-2 in the CCAA. With four game remaining the regular season, the Gators sit comfortably in second in the conference behind undefeated Cal Poly Pomona. Stanislaus falls to 15-7 and 8-6 in the CCAA
- Tamiya Wilson led the Gators with 17 kills. Izzy Issak had 11 followed by Aidan Goodrich with nine.
- SF State had nine aces to Stanislaus' three. Wilson led with four followed by Brianna DeBoer with two.
- Kimberly DeBoer dished 40 assists and added a pair of kills and blocks.
- Malia Tanksley had a team high 12 kills for Stanislaus.
After starting set one going back and forth, the Warriors used a 6-0 run to go up 18-14. But a couple of Stanislaus errors got the Gators back into the set and a Cynthia Beall ace tied things at 19-19. Trailing 22-20, the Gators rattled off five straight points, with three coming from the hands of Anastacia Garza, to take the set.
The Gators took advantage of seven attack errors and three service errors in a set two win. Tied 21-21 at the end of the set, the Gators scored the next four points with two coming off the hand of Wilson.
The Warriors had a strong attack in set three and hit .355 percent to outhit the Gators. They used a 6-0 run late in the set to potentially turn the tides and reach set point at 24-23. Goodrich landed a kill to tie the match up and Issak and Garza each landed kills to win the match for the Gators.
