How It Happened

The Gators went up 12-4 before the first set and never looked back. SF State held the Pioneers to a -.08 hitting percentage. Seven of the 12 points from East Bay came from errors by the Gators.

A 5-0 start by East Bay derailed the Gators in set two. The Gators came within one of the Pioneer's lead down 18-17. The Pioneers called a time-out and landed a pair of kills coming out of the timeout and the Gators would not make up the deficit the rest of the way.

Tied 15-15 in set three, a setter dump by Kimberly DeBoer sparked a 4-0 run to help the Gators create some distance from East Bay. East Bay called a timeout at set point and landed a kill on the ensuing rally but a service error gave the Gators the set three win.

The Gators outscored the Pioneers 8-1 after being tied 12-12 to take command of the fourth set. Issak landed three of the five kills during that run. Gators finished with a .382 hitting percentage during that set for their highest of the match.
