POMONA, Calif. — The No. 21 San Francisco State volleyball team is headed to the NCAA West Region Championship after topping No. 4 Chaminade 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21) in Friday's semifinals matchup inside Kellogg Arena.
- SF State improves to 23-6 on the season, marking the most wins by a Gators team in a single season. The Silverswords, who went 20-0 en route to the PacWest title, finish their season at 28-4.
- Izzy Issak and Tamiya Wilson led the way offensively with 15 kills apiece. Aidan Goodrich added nine and Anastacia Garza finishd with eight on 17 attempts for a .412 hitting percentage.
- Three Gators recorded double digit digs. Brianna DeBoer led the Gators with 14, Asia Arbaugh had a dozen, and Wilson had 11.
- Kimberly DeBoer dished out 40 assists in the win to get to 1201 on the season and fourth-most in a single season.
- Chaminade was led by Letizia Cammillucci's 16 kills. Mahala Ka'apuni addd 12 kills and Anna Stucchi finished with 11.
The Gators fell behind early and could not figure out how to slow down the Swords. Chaminade finished the set with a .484 hitting percentage and no attack errors.
Gators dug themselves in another hole in set three but fought to come back. Trailing by as much as six, Issak and Wilson landed kills to get the Gators within one down 19-18. Wilson landed a kill to give the Gators the lead at 21-20 and errors piled up for the Swords as the Gators were able to equalize the match score.
In a back and forth set three, the Gators found some breath room after a 7-1 run put them up 22-16. Chaminade landed one more kill before errors ended the set in the Gators' favor. SF State limited Chaminade to a .108 hitting percentage.
The Gators came from behind against in set four and used a 6-0 run to tie the set up 10-10. Up 21-20,
Aidan Goodrich had a hand in the next three points to get the Gators to match point. Chaminade's Mahala Ka'apuni landed a kill to get the serve back but the ensuing rally resulted in a kill by
Anastacia Garza to end the match.
