How it Happened

The Gators led for the first twelve minutes of the game but went cold in the last couple of minutes. In turn, the Lumberjacks finished the half on a 6-0 run and led 28-22 at the break.

SF State kept it close and a 6-0 run of their own propelled the Gators back in front, 49-48, with under eight minutes to go. The lead changed six more times with the Gators holding on for the final. Things didn't look good with two minutes to go. The Gators got a defensive stop but turned the ball over, then Bento-Jackson hit a jumper with under a minute to go to put Humboldt up three. SF State called timeout with 52 seconds left. CJ Bellamy lobbed the ball in to Dalton, who finished for a layup with 37 seconds left. The defense came up big when Ramiah Adedigba, facing full court pressure, bobbled the ball out of bounds in front of the scorer's table near the Lumberjacks bench. That gave the ball to the Gators with 26 seconds remaining and the Gators again went to Daniel Dalton, who scored and drew the foul with 14.3 seconds remaining. He converted the free throw for the two-point lead. The Lumberjacks brought the ball up and called timeout with nine seconds remaining. Diaz's driving jumper with three seconds hit the bottom of the rim and the Gators held on.
