CARSON, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's basketball team ended its road trip with a 71-62 loss at No. 18 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday afternoon inside the Torodome.
- SF State drops its third straight after winning six straight and slips to 14-11 overall and into a three-way tie for sixth place in the CCAA at 8-9. The nationally-ranked Toros improve to 19-4 overall and clinch a berth in the conference tournament at 14-3.
- Jailen Daniel-Dalton led all players with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Gators. He was 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
- CJ Bellamy had a career game with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including four three-pointers. He also led the team with three steals.
- Caleb Oden added 10 points in the loss.
- The Gators were held to a season-low 32.8 percent shooting and matched a season-low with 19 field goals. The Toros shot 51.9 percent (28-of-54), which was the third highest percentage allowed by the Gators this season.
- Four different Toros scored in double digits, led by Andre Ball and Jacob Washington, who each had 15 points. Jeremy Dent-Smith added 11 points and Jakob Alamudun had 10 points.
- CSUDH won the rebounding battle 40-31. Five different Toros had six or more rebounds, led by seven from DJ Guest.
The Gators went up 7-2 early and led for the first five minutes. Still up five at the 13-minute mark, the Toros used a 12-0 over a two-minute period run to grab the lead, 18-17, on a Washington three-pointer and grew that lead to 24-17. SF State pulled to within four but trailed 38-29 at the half. The two teams played evenly, 33-33, in the second half.
The Gators return home to host RV Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. for the team's annual Purpleout game. The first 500 fans will receive a free T-shirt.
