SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its series finale to Cal State San Marcos 6-1. After having no problem getting on base all weekend, the Gators finished with four hits on the day.
- SF State falls to 23-19 and 17-15 in the CCAA while Cal State San Marcos improves to 25-15 and 24-11 in the CCAA. The Gators fall to fifth in the conference with two series left to play.
- Justin Johnson accounted for the lone run of the game, a solo shot in the ninth. His ninth home run of the season gave him his 50th RBI on the season, currently the most in the CCAA.
- Anthony Alvarez was the only other player to hit for extra bases, a double in the second.
- The Gators were not able to draw a walk while the Cougars drew seven.
Errors in the first inning allowed two runners on for the Cougars but only on scored on a sac fly. The Cougars put up four runs in the fourth inning to go up 5-0, with three of those runs coming off a home run by Sommay. The Cougars add an insurance run with bases loaded and two outs in the eighth to extend the lead to 6-0. Johnson's home run in the ninth ended the shut out but the Gators weren't able to much more to come back.
- David Eichhorn (4-2) went 6.1 innings and gave up eight hits, five runs with four of them earned and four walks. He threw four strikeouts.
- Theo Dopkins made an appearance out of the bullpen but was pulled after giving up a walk.
- James Kobylt came in next and induced a double play to get the Gators out of the seven.
- Anthony Alvarez pitched in the eighth. With two outs, he gave up three straight walks before a hit up the middle that added a run.
- Bruno De Leon (1-1) was credited with the win after pitching two innings of relief in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Gators return home for their final home series of the season. They host Cal State LA with game one scheduled for Friday, April 26 at 3 pm. The game will be broadcast on the
