BELLINGHAM, Wash - The RV San Francisco State volleyball team continued its opening weekend at the Western Washington Invitational. They lost the morning game to #7 MSU Denver in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) but rebounded well with a sweep over RV Western Washington (25-15, 25-18, 25-21)

- The Gators close out the weekend 1-2 with all three teams they faced listed in the preseason polls.
- Tamiya Wilson and Kimberly DeBoer were named to the All-Tournament Team. Both Honorable Mention All-Americans from a season ago, the duo showed their was little rust during a challenging first weekend. Wilson averaged 4.18 kills per set and 2.55 digs per set. DeBoer averaged 10.27 assists per set.
- Freshman Rachael Reyes and Alana Larson made their Gator debuts against MSU Denver. Reyes had 11 assists while Larson finished with four kills.
- MSU Denver won all four matches in three sets this past weekend, backing up their preseason ranking.

MSU dominated in all facets of the match against the Gators and had the advantage in every statistical category outside of service aces. The Gators, who consistently boast a strong offense, finished the match with a .082 hitting percentage. The Roadrunners hit .337 percent and out-muscled the Gators in front of the net with 10 blocks to their three.

Gators easily took advantage of an error prone Western Washington team in set one. The Vikings had eight attack errors and hit for -.057 while the Gators would lead by as much as 11 during the set.
Western Washington started to find some success offensively to tie set two up nine all. The Gators called a timeout and a pair of kills by
Izzy Issak bookended two attack errors by the Vikings to go back up by four. The Vikings would not come within a point the rest of the way.
The Gators had another hot start in set three and started the set up 6-1. Western Washington made things close near the end and only trailed 23-21.

Anastacia Garza defended the net well and teamed up on back-to-back blocks to end the match.
