SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's basketball team fell 76-67 to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday night inside the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
- The Gators fall to 6-11 on the year, 4-7 in CCAA play. The Coyotes improve to 14-6 overall and are in third place at 7-4 in conference play.
- John Bakke and Tyjean Burrell scored 17 points apiece for the Gators. Donovan Cooks added 12 points in the loss.
- CSUSB's Evan Oliver led all players with a career-high 31 points. He was 7-of-15 from the field with five three-pointers and was 12-of-14 from the free throw line. Andrew Henderson chipped in 11 points and Jordan Jones finished with 11 points.
- The Gators won the rebounding battle 41-39, led Pearse Uniacke's career-high 10. Nic Welp posted a game-high 11 rebounds for CSUSB.
- Uniacke also recorded a career-high six blocks and leads the CCAA with an average of 2.4 per game, nearly a full block more than the next player.
- Both teams shot 37.3 percent from the field, but the Coyotes had more makes and attempts (22-of-59) than the Gators (19-of-51).
- Both teams also faced foul trouble. The Coyotes had three players foul out, and three more had four fouls, while a pair of Gators fouled out.
After trailing by a point at halftime, 30-29, the Gators rattled off a 14-0 run over a three and a half minute period to grab a 45-32 advantage. The Gators led by as many as 15 points with 11 minutes to go in the second half but the lead deteriorated when the Coyotes answered on a 19-2 run over a three and a half minute period. The Gators tied the game at 55-55 and led 59-58 on a Bakke layup with under five minutes to go. However, Charlie Henderson's second-chance basket put CSUSB up, 60-59. The Gators again tied the game, this time at 61-61. Oliver and Josh Adoh hit three-pointers to make it a six-point difference and the Gators never got closer than four and were forced to foul down the stretch.
