How It Happened

Each team earned points off the other team's miscues to start the first set. A Humboldt service error gave the Gators the serve back up 7-6. Witcher landed an ace to spark a 4-1 run to put the Gators up 11-7 before a Humboldt time-out. The Lumberjacks never came within more than two points of the Gators' lead the rest of the way.

The Gators held Humboldt to its lowest hitting percentage of the match in set two at .000 percent. SF State had three service aces to take a 6-2 lead which included back-to-back aces from Taylor Vales. A late 6-0 run that featured a pair of aces from Alana Larson put the Gators up 22-15 and gave them a cushion the rest of the way.

A 4-0 run put the Gators up 14-9 to force Humboldt to call their first time-out of set three. The Lumberjacks would only get back within three of the Gators' lead. Witcher and Goodrich each had six kills in the third set
