How It Happened

Aces from Alana Larson, Grace Witcher and Tamiya Wilson helped the Gators build a 14-8 lead midway through the first set. LA chipped away at the lead and an ace tied things up for them 21-21. Goodrich had a pair of kills and Witcher landed a kill to get the Gators at set point up 24-23. LA tied the set up with a kill to extend it but a service error from the Golden Eagles gave the Gators the serve back and Wilson landed an ace to shut the door on the set.

Errors by LA opened the door for the Gators to take the lead in set two. LA called its first timeout when the Gators led 15-12 after a 5-0 run. The Golden Eagles came back to tie the set at 21-21 but Goodrich was key with three kills to take the set.

The Gators had their best offensive showing in the third set with a hitting percentage of .448. Goodrich had five kills while Larson and Witcher finished with four each.
