How It Happened

The Gators could not figure it out to start the match and had several errors early in the first set. Down 18-9, the Otters went on a 7-0 run. The Gators and Otters played a close second set until a 8-0 run by the Gators to put them up 23-14. Six different Gators recorded a kill with Witcher, Goodrich and Wilson each recording three.

Trailing throughout the third set, the Gators went on a 4-1 run to come within one of the Otters and force a timeout down 19-18. The Gators went on another 4-1 run tied 20-20 with Witcher having a hand in all four points. The Otters landed a kill to extend the match but an attack error shut the door on a Otter comeback.

A 7-0 run down 7-6 gave the Gators a cushion. The Otters came within two of the Gator lead at 20-18 but the Gators had five straight kills with Witcher recording four of them.
