MERCED, Calif. - The San Francisco State volleyball team secured its spot in the CCAA tournament with a 3-0 win over UC Merced (25-21, 25-15, 25-21). The Gators make the tournament for the three straight season and fourth time in five seasons.
- The Gators improve to 10-13 on the season and 9-7 in the CCAA. Currently tied with Stanislaus State at fifth, the Gators can finish anywhere from fourth to sixth in the conference. UC Merced drops to 6-19 and 5-11 in the CCAA.
- Tamiya Wilson had a match-high 15 kills, followed by Grace Witcher with 13.
- Grace Witcher served up two aces to reach 50 on the season and become the seventh player to reach that mark.
- Melanie Hewlett had 37 assists on the game to average over 12 assists a set.
- Alana Larson had 20 digs, two shy of her career-high.
Tied 3-3 to open the match, the Gators built some separation with a 8-3 run. Witcher landed three kills during the stretch. The Bobcats would be able to come within two of the Gator lead but the Gators never relinquished it. Leading 23-21,

The offense continued to click for the Gators in set two as SF State finished with a hitting percentage of .310 and three errors in the set. Wilson had six kills in the second set while the Bobcats finished with eight as a team.
Tied 8-8, the Gators forced the Bobcats to side out on their next five serves and took a 17-13 lead in the process. The Gators got the serve back up 23-21. Wilson landed a kill and a bad set from Merced ended the game.
