How It Happened

The Gators called a time out after Humboldt took its largest lead of the first set, 13-9. Goodrich bookended a 6-0 run for the Gators with a kill and block before the Lumberjacks took a timeout. Witcher added a kill and Wilson an ace as the Gators came out of the timeout to extend the run to 9-0 and lead 18-13. The Lumberjacks came back within one down 21-20 and tied it coming out of the Gators' second time-out. Goodrich's kill got the Gators to set point up 24-23 but a ball handling error prolonged the set. Down 27-26, Lilly Rix had a kill and a block and a Humboldt attack error sealed the set for the Gators.

Errors helped the Gators build an early 9-4 lead in set two. A block by Goodrich forced the Lumberjacks to call a time-out down 13-6. Gators looked to run away with it but Humboldt used a 6-1 run to cut the Gators' lead to 23-17. Goodrich threaded an attack between two blockers to reach set point and Alana Larson serve made contact with a Lumberjack to end the second set.

A service error gave the Gators the serve back at 6-6. It sparked a 10-0 run for the Gators, highlighted by five aces from Vales.
