ATHERTON, Calf. - San Francisco State men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season and beat Menlo College 67-60.

- SF State improves to 1-4 while Menlo College drops to 0-6
- Three Gators scored in double figures: Miles Pollard (14 points), Bricen Buciak (13 points) and Markees Williams (12 points). Williams was two rebounds shy of a double-double.
- Evan McKnight had a career-high four blocks and grabbed eight boards.
- The Gators had 11 steals on the day with Buciak and Maximilian Parmigiani each recording three.
- SF State had 31 points from the bench.
- The Gators had one of their best three-point shooting games of the young season and shot 32.1 percent from the field. Menlo finished at 12.5 percent.
Diego Martinez and Pollard launched threes on back-to-back drives to take a 9-8 lead with 14:44 remaining in the first half. The lead would go back and forth before Parsa Hadjighasemi had eight unanswered points to give the Gators a 28-20 lead. A couple of Gator turnovers led to baskets for Menlo and teh Oaks took a 36-34 lead into the locker room off a second chance basket from Jamaal Unuakhalu.
Buciak gave the Gators their first lead of more than one possession in the second half when he stole the ball and scored to go up 47-43. Menlo tied the game at 51 all with 9:24 remaining on a basket and made field goal. While the Gators only went 2-for-7 from the field over the next four and a half minutes, they were a perfect 6-for-6 at the line and were able to contain Menlo to lead 63-55. Neither team was able to score for the next several minutes until a dunk from Unuakhalu cut the Gator lead to 63-57 with 1:30 remaining. Pollard made four shots at the line and the Oaks were only able to score one more three in that stretch.
 The Gators start conference action and host local rival Cal State East Bay on December 4 at 7:30 pm. The game will be their annual Purple-out game and first 100 fans will receive Purple tshirts. Live stats will be available at sfstategators.com and fans can watch at home on FloCollege.
