SAN FRANCISCO - The #23 San Francisco State volleyball team fell to Fresno Pacific in three sets (21-25, 14-25, 19-25) to close out the Gator Classic.
With her fourth kill in set two,
Tamiya Wilson broke the program kill record with her 1,287 career kill.
- The Gators fall to 1-6 on the season while FPU improves to 7-0.
- Wilson broke Angela Johnson's record, who played for the Gators from 1984-88. She finished the match with six kills.
- Lilly Rix had a team-high four blocks.
- The Gators finished with a hitting percentage of .146 percent compared to .318 by the Sunbirds.
- SF State had 29 digs while the Sunbirds had 45.
A couple of Gator errors in a 5-1 run for the Sunbirds led to a Gator time-out trailing 12-7. Rix had a hand in back-to-back blocks to cut the Sunbirds' lead down to 23-21. But a Gator error gave FPU the serve back and they responded with a kill to close out the set. The Gators struggled to click in set two, recording eight attack errors with only one being blocked at the next. Fresno Pacific finished the match on a 5-0 run with the first three points coming off Gator errors. Fresno Pacific took an early lead in set three and never looked back, getting kills from six different athletes. Down 24-16 at match point, a couple of errors allowed the Gators to hang around but the Sunbirds closed the comeback with a kill from Cambria Waites.
