How It Happened

After staying close to the Pioneers early in set one, East Bay rattled off three straight kills to lead 14-9 and force a Gator time-out. The Gators had a couple of rallies that helped them come back including three kills from Larson in a 7-1 run. East Bay called a timeout up 24-21 and got the point on the next serve.

East Bay took control of set two and never looked back. The Gators had their lowest hitting percentage of the night during the set and hit .114.

The Gators switched Grace Witcher from Libero back to outside hitter and she and Larson each tallied five kills in a set three win. The Gators held East Bay to a .000 hitting percentage.

Down 12-11, the Pioneers forced the Gators to sideout throughout the fourth set while they were able to get a couple runs going. A kill from Wilson and a Pioneer attack error gave the Gators a run late to cut the lead to 23-18 but the Pioneers responded and took the match.
