BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The #4 San Francisco State volleyball team opened up the 2025 campaign at the Western Washington Invitational. They opened their match with RV Central Washington with a 25-17 win but dropped the next three sets 25-23, 25-19 and 25-20.

- Central Washington is the GNAC Preseason favorite.
- Aidan Goodrich led the way with 19 kills. Tamiya Wilson tallied 15 while Grace Witcher had 13.
- Melanie Hewlett started at setter and dished 47 assists in her debut.
- The Gators had 13 service aces  getting four aces from Grace Witcher and Alana Larson. They also had 18 service errors.
- Central Washington dominated the front of the next, totaling 16 blocks compared to the Gators' four.Â
- Scottie Ellsworth had 13 kills for Central Washington.

Tied 10-10 in the first set, the Gators used a 4-0 run to build separation from Central Washington. Wilson accounted for three of the final five points to give the Gators the victory.
The Gators went on a 6-1 run, capped off by back-to-back kills from Goodrich to lead 15-10 in the second set. Central Washington chipped away at the Gator lead and used a 5-0 run to take a 23-21 lead. Goodrich landed a kill to come within one down 24-23 but the Wildcats responded to take the set.
An 8-0 start by Central Washington put the Gators in an early hole. The Gators climbed their way back as Goodrich had her hand in all four points during a 4-0 run to cut the Wildcat's lead down to 21-19. Central Washington would score the next four points to claim set three.
In a tight back and forth set four, the Gators took a lead at 20-19. Central Washington responded with a 6-0 run to take the match.
