SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State men's basketball team played competitively with the Chico State Wildcats in the first half but saw the Wildcats pull away in the second half and fell 85-77.
- SF State falls to 2-12 and 1-7 in conference. Chico State improves to 6-7 and 4-4 in the CCAA.
- Miles Pollard had a team-high 15 points. Markees Williams and Milandev Chatha also reached double figures, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.
- The Gators were even with the Wildcats on rebounds with each grabbing 39 boards.
- The Wildcats held the slight advantage on shooting, shooting 44.4 percent from the field compared to the Gators' 41.9 percent. They also edged them on three-point shooting, shooting 34.6 percent compated to the Gators' 26.9.
- Chico's Chris Holley had 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Bricen Buciak scored four of the Gators points on a 6-0 run to put them up 16-8 with 10:40 to go in the first half. Chico slowly chipped away at the lead as Isaiah Brewington scored on a lay-up to give the Wildcats a 22-21 lead. The Wildcats could not pull away by more than four points the rest of the half. Diego Martinez's jumper gave the Gators lead back with one minute to go. The Wildcats scored on their next two possessions including a three-point basket that put them up 38-35 heading into halftime.
Chico scored on its first two possessions of the second half to lead by seven. Pollard responded to make it a five point game on the next possession but the Gators were unable to cut the gap any further. Chico led by 17 with a little under four and a half to go. The Gators were able to get a little going on offense to close out the game, but the Wildcats were are to take advantage of trips at the line to keep their lead safe.
