Diego Martinez earned his first career start and scored a career-high 24 points but the San Francisco State men's basketball team dropped a close contest to Cal Poly Humboldt 90-83.
- SF State falls to 2-11 and 1-5 in conference. Cal State San Bernardino improves to 7-6 and 5-2 in the CCAA.
- Markees Williams had 20 points, making it the first time the Gators had two players score 20 or more points in a game since Feb 25, 2023.
- Three-point shooting provided a huge advantage for Humboldt. The Lumberjacks shot 60.9 percent from deep while the Gators shot 24.0 percent.
- The Gators held the advantage on rebounds grabbing 34 compared to the Lumberjack's 26.
- Humboldt had five players in double figures with Drew Ardouin and Zaveion Bineyard each reaching double figures
After the Gators started with a 7-5 lead, Humboldt went 3-for-3 from the field during a 9-0 run that put them on top. Martinez stopped the scoring drought with a lay-up a Williams shot a three to get the Gators back within a possession. Bricen Buciak drove in a basket to get the Gators within one down 17-16 with 12:06 to go. Humboldt started to pull away and led by as many as nine points. The Gators were able to close the gap late in the half as Martinez scored a jumper to cut the Humboldt lead down to 39-38 with 1:38 to go. Humboldt closed out the half up 45-40.
Humboldt's hot shooting continued in the second half as the Lumberjacks outshot the Gators 14-5 to take a 59-45 lead heading into the under 16 media timeout. The Gators, who trailed by double figures most of the half, cut the deficit down to single digits with a dunk by Mason Harris to make it a 80-71 game. Harris and Buciak added baskets to cut the lead down to five with 2:22 to go. The two teams both scored on the next possessions. The Gators fouled the Lumberjacks the rest of the way but the Lumberjacks were able to get it done at the line to maintain their lead.
