SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State volleyball team relied on a big serving night to take a 3-1 victory (25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 25-11) over Stanislaus State.
- SF State improves to 5-8 and 2-3 in the CCAA. Stanislaus falls to 5-8 and 1-3 in the CCAA.
- The Gators finished with 20 service aces, most against a DII program and second-most in a single match in program history. Savanna FauntLeRoy had six while Grace Witcher was behind her with five.
- Alana Larson had a team-high 16 kills.
- The Gators were able to hold the Warriors to a .206 hitting percentage.
- Melanie Hewlett dished out 29 assists.
Up by one in the first set, Aidan Goodrich had a pair of aces in a 6-1 run for the Gators to lead 11-5 before a Stanislaus timeout. The Gators reached set point up 24-20 and Stanislaus responded with a pair of kills. Witcher finally landed one for the set one victory.
The Gators put together a strong offensive performance in set two with no errors and a hitting percentage of .464 in set two to deliver another set victory.
SF State led by as many as six in the third set but the Warriors climbed back and tied it at 21-21. They took the lead and reached set point up 24-22. The Gators tied the set up and had a chance to take back the set but the Warriors secured the next two points.
Rubi Harrington served up a pair of aces in a 4-0 start to the fourth set. A 9-0 run that featured several Stanislaus attack errors and three aces from FauntLeRoy gave the Gators the cushion Stanislaus could not return from.
