SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State men's basketball team had its best offense output of the season and shot 54.8 percent from the field to beat Cal State LA 84-56.
- SF State improves to 3-19 and 2-14 in conference. Cal State LA falls to 7-15 and 6-10 in the CCAA
- Diego Martinez led the way with 24 points. He's had 20+ points in three of the last five games.
- SF State shot more than 50 percent from the field for the first time since Feb. 1, 2024 at Cal Poly Humboldt.
- The Gators had nearly double the rebounds Cal State LA had and grabbed 43 compared to their 22.
- Fed Pernell dished a career-high seven assists.
- Markees Williams had a career-high five steals.
Tied at 10-10, Martinez scored the next seven points for the Gators as they took a 17-12 lead. A three-point basket from Jordan Hansen cut the Gator lead to a possession but Milandev Chatha scored and made the and-one basket to give the Gators a bigger cushion. Up 22-18, the Gators went on a 13-0 run to pull away in the first half. Williams had three straight steals at the end of the run, all leading to points on the other end. LA cut down the lead but the Gators held a 38-26 lead at the end of the half. Evan McKnight had back-to-back baskets in a 10-0 run to put the Gators up 50-27 with over 16 minutes to go in the second half. SF State led by as many as 34 points in the second half as the team cruised to victory.
