• SF State falls to 2-7 and 0-3 in the CCAA. Cal Poly Pomona improves to 9-1 and 3-0 in the CCAA.
• Grace Witcher had a team-high 12 kills.
• Errors from Pomona aided the Gators as the Broncos finished with 22 attack errors.
• Lilly Rix had a match-high four blocks.
• Sarah Ybarra led all players with 15 kills.

How It Happened

Down by one in the first set, the Gators saw the Broncos take over after a 5-1 run. The Gators called a timeout and after allowing a service ace out of the timeout, the Gators went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead down to one. Melanie Hewlett had a pair of aces during the run. SF State made it a 24-23 game but the Broncos got the next point.

SF State led through most of the second set. Tied 19-19, the Broncos took the lead on a 4-0 run thanks to three Gator attack errors. Cal Poly Pomona forced SF State to sideout after every serve to take the second set.

The Broncos trailed 16-15 and landed four straight kills in the third set to retake the lead. Every time the Gators got the serve back the rest of the way, the Broncos scored to retake the serve.
