TURLOCK, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team picked up a 3-0 non-conference victory (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) over host team Stanislaus State to start the week.
- SF State improves to 4-7 while Stanislaus State drops to 4-7.
- Grace Witcher had a match-high 14 kills.
- McKenzie Anderson dove for a match-high 16 digs.
- Errors plagued the Warriors in the match. They finished with 20 attack errors.
- Savanna FauntLeRoy and Grace Kool each had three aces.
The Gators led by as many as eight points in the first set and got kills from seven different players. Aidan Goodrich and Grace Witcher each had four. The Warriors went on a late 5-0 run to cut the Gator lead to 23-21 but Witcher and Goodrich each landed kills to end the set.
The Warriors struggled to hit in set two and finished with a .070 hitting percentage. Both Graces helped led the offense in set two as Witcher added four kills while Kool had three.
The Gators fell behind early in the third set and trailed by 12-2 before a couple of errors helped them spark their offense. Down 21-12, the Gators cut the lead to one with eight straight points. A service error gave the Warriors the serve back but the Gators outscored them 5-1 to close out the set.
The Gators remain in Turlock and will take on Cal State East Bay on September 26 at 5 p.m. for one more non-conference game. Live stats will be available at sfstategators.com and fans can watch the action on FloCollege.
