SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco State's
Brittany Garrett (Hoover, Ala., Univ. of Southern Mississippi) provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in the 5,000-meter run on Friday to lead the Gator track and field squad at the SF State Distance Carnival in Cox Stadium.
Garrett finished fourth out of 43 runners in the event, posting a career-fast time of 17 minutes, 26.74 seconds, which ranks second in school history and tops her previous best of 17:33.24 set at Cal State Fullerton's Ben Brown Invitational on March 6.

Two SF State runners also cracked the school's all-time performance list in the 10,000 as
Karen Marchan's (Laguna Hills, Calif., Laguna Hills HS) time of 38:42.91 now ranks third in Gator history, while
Heather Cannioto (Garden Grove, Calif., Orange Coast College) landed in the seventh spot with a 39:36.52 clocking.
Elsewhere,
Andrea Parker (San Diego, Calif., Crawford HS) won the opening heat in the 200, crossing the tape in 27.28 to place eighth overall, while
Tanya Ferreira (Royal Oaks, Calif., North Monterey County HS) (seventh, 11:49.39) and
Sue Choi (Clovis, Calif., Buchanan HS) (10
th, 11:55.02) managed a pair of top-10 finishes in the 2-mile run.
Not to be outdone,
Felicia Terwilliger (Eureka, Calif., Warwick (R.I.) West HS) came away with the high jump title after clearing 5 feet, 5 inches, edging out fellow teammate
Meagen Moiola (Morro Bay, Calif., Morro Bay HS), who was runner-up at 5-03.
The Gators will be back in action next weekend when they play host to their second home meet this season, the Johnny Mathis Invitational, April 2-3 at Cox Stadium.
