TURLOCK, Calif.--- The SF State Gators' softball team went 1-1 on the final day of Pool Play in Day Two of the Tournament of Champion/Mizuno to finish 3-2 going into bracket play of the tournament in Turlock. The Gators came back twice from deficits to defeat Dixie State 8-7 in eight inning and lost 4-2 to No. 6 Western Washington in their final game of pool play
SF State 8, Dixie State 7 (8)
Dixie State took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Gators tied in their half of the third inning when they scored two runs capped by a Lea Cardenas run scoring single. Dixie State took the lead again with a run in the fourth, but Kelsey Wood's solo home run in the 5th to tie the game.
Dixie State took a 6-3 lead with a three-run inning, but the Gators came back with a three-run inning capped by a Rachael Kroneder two-run double to send the game into extra innings.
Dixie State took a 7-6 lead in its half of the eighth on international rules. In the Gator half of the eighth, Heather Jensen and Alyssa Esquibel had back to back singles followed by a walk to Cardneas to load the bases with one out. Then Jensen scored on a passed ball to tie the game. Still with one out, Kelsey Wood reached on an error which scored Esquibel with the game-winning run.
Ashley Jackson (5-11) picked up the win, pitching 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 7 runs (one earned) while striking out five and walking three.
Kelsey Wood finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI while Kendra Wood was 3-for-3.

No. 6 Western Washington 4, SF State 2
Western Washington took a 3-0 lead after the top of the second inning keyed by a Michelle Wrigley single. The Gators cut into the Viking lead when Kelsey Wood scored on a sacrifice fly by Summer Powell in the second. Then in the third, SF State put another run on the board on Kendra Wood's single that drove in Cardenas to make it 4-2 Vikings.
Erika Quint (19-0) picked up the win for the Vikings, pitching a complete game, striking out eight and walking three. Marissa Ibarra recorded the loss for the Gators.
SF State will now await until later this evening to find out if what bracket they are in tomorrow morning.
