Box Score SAN BERNARDINO--- The visiting SF State Gators played a hard fought match with the #12 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes losing in four sets (23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25) this evening in a CCAA match at CSUSB's Coussoulis Arena. The Coyotes improve to 16-4 overall and 12-0 in the CCAA.
Jacquie Brice recorded her 9
th double-double of the season with 41 assists and 15 digs while
Meagan Wright had a team high 16 kills with a .324 hitting percentage.
Jazmine Williams added 11 kills with a match high .324 hitting percentage.
SF State (9-11, 4-8 CCAA) registered a total team 8 blocks with
Melissa Horton, Williams and Wright each recording three.
Ashley Solis paced the Coyotes with 16 kills and 17 digs and Stephanie Sinohui and Hannah Liserra had 30 and 20 assists respectively.
The Gators took advantage of some hitting errors by the hosts in the first set as they took a 6-3 including scoring the first three points of the match.
Cal State San Bernardino scored the next three points to tie the set at 6-6 capped by a Brenna McIntosh service ace.
The set went back and forth with the Gators last holding the lead at 10-9 on a Williams kill. A McIntosh kill gave the Coyotes a 14-11 lead, but SF State cut the lead to 18-17 on a Wright kill.
Cal State San Bernardino scored the next five points capped by a Tori May kill to take a 24-19 lead.
SF State would not go away as the Gators cut the margin to 24-23 as they recorded three kills including two by Williams, but a SF State hitting error gave the Coyotes the set, 25-23.
The Gators took a 9-6 lead in the second set and increased their lead to 17-12 as the visitors took advantage of some hitting errors by their hosts.
Cal State San Bernardino cut the deficit to 21-20 on an Ashley Solis kill. Following a Gator timeout, the Gators scored the next four points with two coming off of hitting errors by the hosts and the other on kills by
Jaclyn Clark and Wright to take the set 25-20 to even the match at 1-1.
After the 10-minute intermission, the set was tied at 7-7 when the Gators scored four of the next five points capped by a
Kelly Ostello to take an 11-8 lead.
An ace by Jordan Ortega gave the Coyotes a 14-13 lead. They increased that lead to 23-17 on a kill by Kaitlyn Christner. Two hitting errors by the Coyotes cut their lead to 23-20, but another kill by Christner gave the hosts a 24-20 lead.
A kill by Clark and an ace by Ostello put the Gators within 24-22 and another hitting error by the hosts cut their lead to 24-23. CSUSB took the set 25-23 and a 2-1 advantage in the match on a combined block by McIntosh and Liserra.
SF State took a 5-1 lead in the third set on five straight kills by the visitors. Cal State San Bernardino tied the match at 9-9 on a McIntosh kill.
The Gators took a 15-12 lead on a Clark ace, but the Coyotes scored the seven points to take a 19-15 lead capped by a Solis kill, a lead they would not relinquish.

Jacquie Brice cut the Gator deficit to 20-19, but the hosts scored the next four points to take a 24-19 advantage.
With the Coyotes serving for match point, Williams recorded her 11
th kill to cut the lead to 24-20 and then a hitting error by the hosts put the Gators within three points (24-21). Alexendra Torline recorded a kill off an assist from Hannah Liserra to give the hosts the set 25-21 and the match 3-1.
SF State will end its four-match road trip tomorrow evening in La Jolla, Calif., as the Gators face #13 UC San Diego at RIMAC Arena in a 7pm starting match. The Tritons defeated #14 Sonoma State in four sets (21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16) earlier this evening in a match in La Jolla.
