SF State Rebounds with a 71-56 Win over CSUS

SAN FRANCISCO –  The SF State Gators rebounded from last night's loss to Chico State with a 71-56 victory over the visiting Cal State Stanislaus (5-1, 2-1 CCAA) this evening in a CCAA contest at The Swamp.  Nefi Perdomo paced the Gator with a game high 27 points while Udun Osakue recorded his first double-double as a Gator with 12 points and 11 rebounds. 
 
"The team responded well after a tough loss last night to Chico State," said SF State head coach Paul Trevor.  "I am pleased on how we competed on the glass this evening."  "We knew we had to become tougher on the glass this evening and we did."
 
Perdomo was 8 of 16 from the field and 9 for 10 from the charity stripe while grabbing six rebounds and recording three steals. 
 
SF State (3-2, 1-1 CCAA) held the Warriors, who were previous undefeated, to just 37% shooting from the field including just 22% in the second half.
 
Marcus Bell led the way for Cal State Stanislaus with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but fouled out with 8:28 left in the game.  Rob Walters added 13 points for the Warriors. 
 
The first half was evenly played for the first 10 minutes; until the Warriors went on a 9-2 run to take a 24-17 lead capped by a Bell lay-up with 7:09 left in the first half. 
 
SF Sate outscored the Warriors 11-4 in the next three minutes to tie the game at 28-28 on a three by Calvin Otiono with four minutes to go in the half. 
 
Cal State Stanislaus came right back and took a 37-34 lead heading into the locker room.
 
The Gators came out of the locker room in the second half and outscored their opponents 17-6 in the first eight minutes to take a 51-43 lead.
 
They increased their lead to 60-47 on two made free throws by Max Fodor with 8:40 left in regulation. 
 
The Warriors cut the Gator lead to 60-50 with 8:28 on the clock, but could not get any closer as the hosts built their lead back to 13 (65-52) on two free throws by Brandon Tatum as they took the 71-56 conference victory.
 
SF State out-rebounded the Warriors 44-33 and also was 23-for-31 from the line. 
 
The Gators will return home this Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30pm, when they host Sonoma State in a CCAA game at the Swamp
