San Francisco – The SF State women's volleyball team will wrap up its four game home stand this weekend with a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association matches. The Gators will host Cal State L.A. on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will feature life stats and live video.
SF State enters this weekend with an overall record of 7-9 and currently sits tied for seventh with a 5-6 record in the CCAA. Last weekend the Gators went 1-1 defeating Chico State in four before falling to Cal State Stanislaus in three.
As a team, the Gators are averaging 13.42 kills per set which ranks 42
nd in the nation and third in the CCAA. They are hitting .217 as a team which is 57
th in the nation and fifth in the conference.
Junior outside hitter
Jaclyn Clark is red-hot for the Gators. The native of Santa Clarita, Calif. recorded 40 kills last weekend, while hitting .341. She averaged 5.71 kills per set and also added 29 total digs. On the year, Clark leads the Gators with 191 kills. She averages 3.18 kills per set and is hitting .181.
Running the vaunted Gators attack is senior setter
Jacquie Brice. Brice is 34
th in the nation in assists per set, averaging 10.63. Her 638 assists on the year is 61
st in the nation. For her career, Brice has 1,783 career assists which ranks fifth all-time.
Defensively, libero
Jessica Nicerio is a big reason the Gators are third overall in total digs (983) and digs per set (16.38) in the CCAA. Nicerio has 258 digs on the year and averages 4.37 digs per set both are third in the conference. For her career, Nicerio has 1,166 career digs which is third all-time. At her current pace, she will pass both second place (Dana Steigerwald 1994-97, 1248) and first place (Iris Tolenada, 2009-12, 1275) all-time.
Cal State L.A. enters this weekend tied for second in the CCAA and is 10-4 overall and 8-3 in the conference. The Golden Eagles have lost two-straight after riding a five-match winning streak. As a team, Cal State L.A. averages 12.56 kills per set and is hitting .241 on the y ear. Their opponents are averaging 12.0 kills per set and are hitting .167. Earlier in the year, the Gators fell to the Golden Eagles on the road in four set. Leading the team in kills is Iona Lofrano who has 215 kills, averaging 3.91 kills per set.
Cal State Dominguez Hills enters this weekend with an overall record of 2-13 and are 1-10 in the CCAA. On the road, the Toros are 1-5. As a team, Cal State Dominguez Hills is 11
th in the CCAA in kills per set, averaging 11.2. They are 12
th in attack percentage hitting .122. Their opponents are averaging 12.4 kills per set while hitting .239. On Sept. 12 the Gators swept the Toros on the road to being conference play. Junior outside hitter Alijah Gunsaulus leads the Toros with a 182 kills, averaging 3.37 kills per set hitting .242.
