@SFState_WVB Plays Final Homegame Before Wrapping Up 2014 Season On The Road

San Francisco – The SF State women's volleyball team will play its final home game on Tuesday night, hosting Sonoma State, before wrapping up the 2014 season traveling to Cal State Stanislaus on Friday and Chico State on Saturday.  Tuesday's contest will be senior night for the Gators, they will be honoring three-student athletes in a pre-match ceremony, all three matches this weekend will feature live stats.

The Gators enter this week's contests with an overall record of 12-12 including 10-9 mark in the CCAA which has the Gators in seventh place after defeating Cal State Monterey Bay in five sets and sweeping Cal State East Bay following day.  Saturday's against win against the Pioneers marks just the second time all year the Gators have won on a Saturday.  As a team, SF State averages 13.43 kills per set which ranks fifth in the CCAA while hitting .212 which also ranks fifth in the conference.

The Gators have four players averaging better than two kills per set and three players with more than 200 kills on the season.  Leading the team is junior outside hitter Jaclyn Clark who averages 3.15 kills per set and has 287 kills on the year, both career-bests.  Clark averages 2.95 digs per set and has 268 digs on the year, she is second on the team with 11 double-doubles.

Senior setter Jacquie Brice is having another impactful year running the Gators attack.  With just 21 more assists this season, the native of Fullerton, Calif., will become just the third player in program history to record two 1,000 assist seasons.  Currently Brice ranks fourth all-time with 2, 124 assists.  She ranks second in both total assists (979) and assists per set (10.76) in the CCAA. 

Tuesday's match will be the final home match for seniors Brice, Melissa Horton, and Jazmine Williams.  Horton and Williams are four year letter winners for the Gators.  Wiliams ranks 10th all-time in sets played (324), sixth in solo blocks (72), eighth in block assists (174), and seventh in total blocks (246).  This season she has set career-bests in kills (178), and kills per set (2.28). 

Horton has played in 296 sets for the Gators.  One of the Gators co-captains, she is a two time president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and three-time CCAA All-Academic honoree.  She was on pace to eclipse her career mark of 217 kills set last year before her season ending injury on Friday night against the Otters.

Sonoma State enters tomorrow's contest with an overall record of 18-5 and hold the top spot in the CCAA with a 16-3 mark.  They are currently receiving votes in the AVCA Coach's Top-25 Poll and are sixth in the West Region.  The Seawolves have won four-straight and nine of their last 10.  As a team, they are averaging 14.52 kills per set which ranks first in the conference. 

The Gators will wrap will travel to Turlock, Calif., on Friday when SF State takes on Cal State Stanislaus.  The Warriors enter this Friday's contests with a 2-21 record and are 2-17 in the CCAA.  As a team, the Warriors are averaging 11.0 kills per set and are hitting .151.

On Saturday the Gators will return to the road taking on Chico State at Acker Gym to wrap up their 2014 campgaign.  The Wildcats enter Saturday's contest with a 12-12 overall record including a 10-10 mark in the CCAA.  As a team, Chico State is hitting .220 which is fourth in the conference, averaging 13.53 kills per set which is third.
