San Francisco, Calif. – The SF State softball team returns to action this week after having the previous week off and will take on a pair of Bay Area opponents.  The Gators will open the week taking on non-conference foe Academy of Art on Wednesday for a double header before opening up CCAA action at Cal State East Bay on Saturday and Sunday.  Wednesday's game is slated for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch with game two starting at 2:00 p.m.  Saturday and Sunday's contests will follow the same format.
SF State (3-2) earned wins over CSU Dominguez Hills, Chico State, and Cal State Stanislaus which placed them in a tie for third in the Best of the West Tournament hosted by Cal State Stanislaus.  They wrapped up the weekend with a 7-2 win over the host Warriors.
As a team, the Gators hit .263, going 30-for-11 with seven extra base hits.  Senior 
Kelsey Murakami and junior 
Jennifer Lewis were named to the all-tournament team.  Murakami led SFSU with a .417 average, going 5-for-12 on the weekend, with a run scored and an RBI.  Lewis finished the weekend going 5-for-13 and scored a team-high three runs while also driving in a team-leading three RBI.
In the circle SF State was led by freshman 
Megan Clark who was named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week on February 2.  The lefty went 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA throwing to complete games.    
The Urban Knights enter Wednesday's contest with a record of 0-2 after falling to Humboldt State 11-3 and 3-2 on February 5.  ArtU is led by junior designated player Kamyle Glover who is hitting .400 with a triple and two RBI.  As a team, the Urban Knights are hitting .204 with 11 hits in 54 at bats.
In the circle ArtU is led by Junior Jill Johnson, who took the loss in the season opener against the Lumberjacks.  Johnson is 0-1 with a 2.00 ERA.  In 7.0 innings pitched she has allowed nine hits, three runs, two earned, with two walks and four strike outs.
Cal State East Bay will make its 2014 debut on Wednesday when they take on Cal State Stanislaus for a pair of games.  Last season, the Pioneers finished the year with an overall record of 17-35 including an 11-25 mark in the CCAA.
