San Francisco, Calif. – The SF State softball team has a busy week this week hosting a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association opponents. The action starts on Wednesday when the Gators host the Warriors at 1:30 for a double header and continues on Friday and Saturday when the Wildcats come to the City for a four-game tilt.
SF State enters this week with an overall record of 7-18 after playing three-straight ranked opponents. Last weekend the Gators played a non-conference double header against No. 3 Cal Baptist and lost both contests 13-4 and 1-0.
As a team the Gators are hitting .262 which ranks ninth in the CCAA, leading the team is junior shortstop
Courtney Gravel who is hitting .386. In game one of Saturday's double header Gravel saw her team-leading 10-game hitting streak come to an end, however, over her last 10 games she is on fire, hitting .412 going 14-for-36 with five runs scored.
During the current home stand junior third baseman
Lucy Fernandez is on a tear, hitting .400 with two runs scored and four runs driven in.
In the circle the Gators are sporting a staff ERA of 4.78, leading the team with a 4.38 ERA is freshman
Megan Clark. The southpaw had her best pitching performance as a Gator on Saturday, going eight innings without allowing an earned run to the No. 3 ranked Lancers. Over her last two starts she is 0-2 with a 1.14 ERA, in 12.1 innings pitched she's scattered 14 hits, four runs, two earned, with three walks and seven strike outs.
Cal State Stanislaus enters Wednesday's make-up game with an overall record of 10-17 after losing three of four at home to CSU Monterey Bay over the weekend. The Warriors are hitting .273 as a team which is eighth in the CCAA.
Leading the team is freshman infielder Deenah San Luis who is hitting .310, she is tops on the team with 26 hits, eight of them for extra bases including a conference-leading five triples. Against the Gators earlier this year San Luis went 2-for-7 with an RBI.
The Warriors pitching staff is currently sporting an ERA of 5.44, in 177.0 innings pitched they have allowed 214 hits, 107 earned runs, and 103 walks to just 89 strike outs. Leading the team with a 3.49 ERA is freshman pitcher Karina Callazo who is 2-2 on the year. Last weekend she went 1-1 against CSU Monterey Bay.
On Friday the Gators will be a four-game series against the Wildcats of Chico State. The Wildcats enter this week riding high, having won five-straight and are 12-11 overall. On the road Chico State is just 2-6.
The Wildcats average 3.82 runs per game and are hitting .285 as a team. Leading the squad is sophomore outfielder Amanda Cordeiro who is hitting .400 going 22-for-55. Junior Emily McEnaney and sophomore Desiree Gonzalez lead the team with 18 and 14 RBI's respectively.
In the circle the Wildcats boast a staff ERA of 3.85, in 145.1 innings pitched they have allowed 151 hits, 92 runs, 80 of them earned with 70 walks and 84 strike outs.
Leading the team is senior right hand pitcher Alex Molina who it 5-6 with a 3.40 ERA. In 15 appearances, including 11 starts, she has thrown 72 innings, scattering 63 hits, 35 earned runs with 39 walks and 43 strike outs.
