Box Score 2 San Bernardino – The pitching staff for SF State has been the Gators rock lately, today however, the Gators hurlers struggled. As Cal State San Bernardino took both games of Friday's doubleheader winning 11-0 in five innings in game one, before holding on to win the nightcap 7-3.
Offensively, SF State (17-32/8-22 CCAA) was held to three runs on 10 hits in the day, most of which came in the second game, as the Gators were held to just one hit in the 11-0 win.
In the first game of the series,
Courtney Gravel led off the game with a single up the middle, she would eventually make her way to second, but she would be stranded there. The Gators only had two other batters reach base, both coming on walks, as Coyotes' starter Cassandra Williams (14-11) went the distance, throwing a one hit, complete game shutout.

Megan Clark (8-12) who has been solid all season, today was just not her day, as she was roughed up for seven runs, two earned, six hits, with a walk and two strike outs in 1.2 innings. The Coyotes scored a pair of runs in the first and five runs in the second. The big hit in the second, a three-run home run by Tiffany McIntosh, her 14
th of the season, ended the day for Clark.
Jenny Obbema took the ball for the Gators and closed out the second and went the rest of the way, throwing 2.1 innings, allowing seven hits, four runs, three earned.
In the nightcap the Gators and Coyotes matched zeroes through two innings before CSUSB scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Victoria Lievanos off
Emily Gibson (5-12). The Coyotes added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 5-1.
The Gators rallied back, scoring their first run off of starter Stephanie Luhman (12-9).
Selina Rodriguez started the rally with a one-out single up the middle. She moved to third on an error by Luhman who was attempting to throw out
Jennifer Lewis who reached on a bunt single.
Lucy Fernandez tallied the first of her two RBI's on the day, scoring Rodriguez from third on a single up the middle.
The Gators added two more in the sixth to cut the lead to two. Gravel started the rally, drawing a two-out walk, she stole second to move into scoring position; it was her sixth stolen base of the season. Rodriguez singled to center field, scoring Gravel. Lewis walked, bringing up Fernandez who did the job again, knocking a ball back up the middle that scored Rodriguez from second.
The Coyotes added two runs in the sixth to seal the win. Taking the loss for the Gators in the second game was Gibson, who went 4.1 innings, surrendering 11 hits, five runs, with a pair of walks. Obbema pitched the final 1.2, surrendering four hits, two runs with a pair of walks.
The Gators 2-3-4 hitters all had solid days at the plate, Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Lewis went 2-for-3, while Fernandez went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Gravel went 1-for-3 with a run scored;
Torrey Rook and Aryan Guzman had the other hits for the Gators.
The Gators will return to action tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. as they try to earn the series split against the Coyotes.
