@SFState_SOFT Begins Six Game Home Stand With Midweek Matchup

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State women's softball team begins a six game home stand on Wednesday, hosting Hawaii-Hilo for an afternoon double header.  The week continues when the Gators host CCAA foe Humboldt State for a four-game series.  All six games will feature live stats.

The Gators enter Wednesday's double header with a 1-5 record and are 0-4 in the CCAA.  Last weekend, the Gators were swept by host UC San Diego down in La Jolla.  As a team, SF State is hitting .205, tallying 30 hits in 146 at bats.  The Gators have scored nine runs and hit two doubles and a home run.  Leading the team at the plate is sophomore catcher Tori Bellin.  Bellin is hitting .308 on the year and boasts a .500 on base percentage, drawing a team-leading five walks.

In the circle, the Gators boast a staff ERA of 3.89.  In 36.0 innings pitched they have allowed 40 hits, 20 earned runs with 14 walks and 16 strike outs.  Opponents are hitting .282 against the Gators pitching staff.  Leading the team is sophomore utility player Aryn Guzman.  Guzman sports a miniscule 0.58 ERA in 12.0 innings pitched.  Making her first career start against UC San Diego last Saturday she threw a complete game, allowing just one earned run.  On the year she has scattered seven hits, five walks and leads the team with nine strike outs.

The series against Hawaii-Hilo begins at 1:00 p.m. with game two scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.  The Vulcans enter Wednesday's double-header with a 6-4 record.  Last weekend they took three of four from host Dominican in San Rafael. 

As a team, they are hitting .273 with 12 doubles and six home runs.  Leading the team is senior outfielder Collen Aubrey who is hitting .375 with a double and two home runs.

In the circle the Vulcans boast a staff ERA of 2.33.  Senior right hand pitcher Vanessa Salinas leads the team with 1.78 ERA.  In 39.1 innings pitched she has scattered 32 hits, 10 earned runs with nine strike outs, opponents are hitting just .222 against her.

The Humboldt State series starts on Friday with game one of Friday's twin-billing starting at 1:00 p.m. the nightcap begins at 3:00 p.m.  Saturday, the series resumes at 11:00 a.m. with the finale starting at 1:00 p.m. 

The Jacks enter this week's contests with an overall record of 3-for and have won two of their last three games.  As a team, they are hitting .294 with 11 doubles and seven home runs.  Junior infielder Julie Pena leads the team with three home runs. 

In the circle, Humboldt State boasts a staff ERA of or 4.86.  In 46.0 innings, they have allowed 64 hits, 31 earned runs, and opponents are hitting .318 against the Jacks.  Leading the team is Katie Obbema, who is 2-2 with a 2.33 ERA.  In 27 innings pitched she has scattered 32 hits, 23 strike outs to just one walk.
