@SFState_SOFT Resumes CCAA Action At Chico

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State softball team resumes conference play this weekend, taking on Chico State for a four-game series.  The series kicks off with a double header on Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. with the nightcap scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.  All four games this weekend will feature live stats.
 
SF State (1-11/0-8 CCAA) is coming off back-to-back tough weekends, facing the two top teams in the conference in UC San Diego and Humboldt State.  Last weekend, the Jacks took all four contests against the Gators.  In Friday's double header the Gators pitching responded to the challenge and limited the Jacks early but could not keep HSU off the scoreboard late. 
 
As a team, the Gators are hitting .211 which is ninth in the conference.  They have 60 base hits on the year, 53 of them have been singles.  The Gators have just seven doubles and two home runs on the year.  Leading the team early, is freshman catcher Sara Higa.  Higa is hitting .438 with a pair of doubles.  Lucy Fernandez is tops on the team with six RBI, which is good enough for 27th in the CCAA.  Fernandez and Aryn Guzman have the Gators two home runs on the year.
 
In the circle the Gators boast a staff ERA of 5.10 which is 10th in the conference.  In 74.0 innings pitched the Gators have allowed 107 hits, 59 earned runs, with 38 walks and just 27 strike outs.  Megan Clark leads the team with a 4.10 ERA, in 27.1 innings she has allowed 39 hits, 16 earned runs with 10 walks to eight strike outs.
 
Chico State enters this weekend with an overall record of 6-2 and have won three straight after taking the series against Cal State East Bay.  The Wildcats are hitting .352 as a team which is second in the conference.  Senior infielder Emily McEnaney is hitting .600 with a pair of doubles and a pair of home runs.  Tori Zimmerman is tied for the team lead with McEnaney in hits, Zimmerman also has a home run and is tops on the team with 15 RBI.
 
In the circle the Wildcats sport a staff ERA of 2.91 which ranks third in the CCAA.  In 53.0 innings pitched they have scattered 53 hits, 22 earned runs with 30 walks and 39 strike outs.  Opponents are batting just .279 against the Wildcats.  Junior pitcher Brooke Langeloh is a perfect 5-0 with a 2.31 ERA.  She's throw two complete games this season.
