@SFState_WRSTL To Recognize Four Seniors This Thursday

SAN FRANCISCO –   The SF State Gators' wrestling team will return home for their final regular season dual this Thursday, February 12 at 7pm against Bay Area rival, Menlo College.  Prior to the start of the dual, the Gators will recognize their seniors in Vicente Aboytes, Jesse Campos, Daniel Flores and Andrew Reggi.

The Gators are coming off a 35-7 loss at the hands of the Stanford Cardinal yesterday afternoon in Stanford, Calif.  Winning for the Gators was Alex Abono at 157 by a 6-0 decision and Jerry DeLaRosa at 141 by a 19-6 major decision.  With loss, SF State fell to 8-5 this season in duals.  Abono improved to 11-2 while DeLaRosa is 11-11 now for the Gators.

Jordan Gurrola leads the SF State grapplers with his 25-9 record at 133.  Of his 25 wins, 10 have been fall this season for the Gator sophomore. Other Gators with a winning record this season are:  Andrew Reggi (18-7 at 197), Johnny Costa (18-13 at 184), Vicente Aboytes (17-10 at 165), Sam Alnassiri (17-12 at 285), Brandon Vu (17-16 at 125), Dylan Furtado (16-9 at 149) and Daniel Flores (11-6 at 141).

Besides Gurrola's 10 wins by fall, two Gators have at least five wins by fall in Furtado (8) and Alnassiri (5).    

Menlo College comes into Thursday evening's dual with the Gators with a 4-4 dual record.  The Oaks are currently ranked seventh in the nation in NAIA and have four grapplers ranked in the top 15 in their respective weight classes.  Scott Brasil is second at 285 while Troy Lakin is third 125 while Eric Lopez is fourth at 165 and Steele Escobedo is 15th at 141. 
Thursday's dual is SF State's last competition until the Gators participate in the 2014-15 NCAA Division II Super Region IV/RMAC Championships in Pueblo, Colo., on February 27-28 at the Massari Arena on the campus of Colorado State-Pueblo. 

The Gator Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will also be holding a Canned Food Good Drive.  Anyone coming to the dual is encouraged to bring a canned food good.
